Perhaps the rookie with the most hype outside of Drouin, was Johnny Gaudreau. After leaving Boston College and bringing home the Hobey Baker fans expected him to jump right into the NHL and dominate on a nightly basis turning the Calgary Flames into contenders. Unfortunately it hasn’t been that magical start for Gaudreau that the fans wanted as he has just 1 goal in 8 games.

I wrote last week that it might be a little too early to rush Gaudreau into the starting line-up with the Flames and some AHL time might do him best. He’s still young and has a lot to learn, but there is little doubt he will one day become a star for the Flames.
