AHL Playoffs: Round 2 Getting Ready
Texas Stars vs. Grand Rapids Griffins
The number one ranked regular season team will now have a very tough test against the reigning AHL champions in the Grand Rapid Griffins. The Stars were the first team to clinch a birth in the second round after easily sweeping the Oklahoma City Barons last week. With a whole week between playoff games, the Stars had a chance to rest some much needed players dealing with injuries.
Jeff Hoggan led the way for the Griffins who finished off their first round in four games and had a much needed weekend off. Teemu Pulkkinen led the team in scoring with 5 points while Petr Mrazek posted a 1.72 goals against average and .936 save percentage through the first four games.
This series could shape up to be one of the best of the second round. With the 2013 champions and the favourited champions for 2014 meeting up. Both teams have what it takes to go far in the AHL playoffs and the Stars had one heck of a regular season.
Round 2 of the AHL playoffs will get under way on Tuesday night!
