AHL Playoffs: Round 2 Getting Ready
St. John’s IceCaps vs. Norfolk Admirals
The IceCaps defeated the Albany Devils in four games during their first round playoff series and will once again face off against a team it did not face during the regular season in round 2. The IceCaps are the only team of the four left in the East who’s parent team is not in the playoffs.
The Norfolk Admirals pulled off a first round upset over the number one ranked Manchester Monarchs and are looking for yet another upset in round 2. Max Sauve netted two game winning goals in the series and John Gibson stood tall with a goals against average of 1.42 and save percentage of .947.
The IceCaps will need to figure out a way to solve John Gibson if they are to have any shot at avoiding another AHL playoff upset. If Sauve can stay hot and Gibson continues to shut the door, the Admirals can easily upset for the second time in this postseason.
