Florida Panthers: Top 3 Prospects

It’s always interesting to have two prospects from the same NHL team playing for the same junior/college team. Ian McCoshen is a teammate of Mike Matheson with the Boston College Eagles. He two gain invaluable experience in the Final Four tournament. He was taken in the second round of the 2013 NHL draft by the Panthers and is still just 18 years old completing his freshman year. The defenceman put up 13 points in 35 years for the Eagles in his freshman year.

McCoshen is probably the furthest of the three Panthers prospects from playing full-time in the NHL. He’s 6 foot 3 and 2o7 pounds at just 18 and will only get larger before his NHL days. He’s got the perfect size for an NHL blue line, now all he needs is the game to back it up. He’s got a strong point-shot but needs to work on his physicality and clean up his game in his own end a little bit.
