The Pittsburgh Penguins announced on Friday afternoon the team has signed 2015 2nd round selection Daniel Sprong to a 3 year, entry-level contract.

The Penguins used the 46th pick to snag Daniel Sprong, a first round potential. Rumblings of Sprong’s defensive abilities may have caused him to slide to the 2nd round.

Regardless, Sprong is now officially part of the Penguins organization. The Netherlands native is currently taking part in the Charlottetown Islanders training camp before the start of the QMJHL season which begins on September 10th.

Sprong is 18 years of age and will be looking to take some time in the QMJHL to mature and build himself up before making the jump to the AHL or possibly the NHL.

Sprong will next see action with the Penguins during their rookie tournament next month in London, Ontario.
