The Calgary Flames are at an interesting cross-road. They were bad enough to receive two top 10 draft picks in 2013 and 2014, and now they have managed to turn themselves into a respectable team after trading making the playoffs and trading for defenseman Dougie Hamilton.
Leading the Flames prospect system is center Sam Bennett. Bennett was drafted fourth overall in the 2014 NHL Draft. He effortlessly slid into the Flames roster in the playoffs and should become a mainstay in their top 6 for years to come.

Emile Poirier is the second best Flames prospect due to his offensive potential. He adds to the young Flames by being able to do everything at a lightning quick pace.
Goaltender Jon Gillies has extremely high potential. He was lights out in the NCAA with Providence College and will be with the Stockton Heat in the AHL this upcoming season.
Rounding out the top five is Morgan Klimchuck, an intelligent, gritty left winger and also playmaking center, Mark Jankowski.
The Calgary Flames are in an interesting position with respect to their system. Right now at the NHL level, there have enough young, skilled forwards. As you’ll see below, their defenseman cupboards are becoming more and more stocked for the future. Also, three goaltenders make their top 20 prospects, which is unheard of.
