Minnesota Wild sign Joel Eriksson Ek to ELC

The Minnesota Wild announced over Twitter Monday evening the team has signed 2015 first round pick Joel Eriksson Ek to an entry-level contract.

Eriksson Ek has the potential to be an elite goal scorer for the Minnesota Wild. He possesses a fast and accurate shot and great vision in his opponent’s end. He is also a bigger centerman which helps him win battles in the offensive and defensive zone.

Joel Eriksson Ek has been playing in the SHL for Färjestad, and their junior teams, the past few years. With this entry-level deal, Eriksson Ek has a possibility of making the NHL team. He is in a similar situation to Avalanche pick, Mikko Rantanen.

The Minnesota Wild have begun their development camp where Joel Eriksson Ek has been impressing, further backing up the reason for the club to give him an ELC.
