The Dallas Stars announced on Wednesday afternoon that they have re-signed restricted free agents, Jack Campbell and Patrick Nemeth.

Per Mike Heika, Patrik Nemeth will make $900,000 for the next two seasons. Jack Campbell’s contract is a one year, two-way, $650,000 in the NHL and $90,000 in the AHL.

Both of these players will still be restricted free agents when their new contracts expire.

Patrik Nemeth, a hulking 23 year old and 6-foot-4 defensive defenseman only appeared in 22 NHL games last season due to an arm laceration early in the campaign. He will likely be getting top 4 time with the Stars next year.

Jack Campbell is now 23 years old as well and he hasn’t had an incredibly successful year since turning pro. Well, I mean maybe his 12-2-2 year in 2013-14 is impressive at first glance. However the fact that Campbell couldn’t stay healthy that year kind of deters it. He also failed to build on those great statistics last season.

The former 11th overall pick of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft should be the Texas Stars starting goaltender next season. Hopefully he’s able to improve his confidence and have a strong season.

It appears that the Dallas Stars are locking up their RFAs early in the offseason this year. Jyrki Jokipakka was re-signed to a two year, one-way, $900k cap hit on Monday, June 15th.

Last season, the Dallas Stars had restricted free agents, Cody Eakin and Brendan Dillon holdout until late September and early October respectively before re-signing with the team.

The Dallas Stars still have the following players who remain as restricted free agents: Curtis McKenzie, Jamie Oleksiak, Scott Glennie and Ludwig Karlsson. Cameron Gaunce is a group 6 unrestricted free agent.

As of right now it appears that Dallas Stars unrestricted free agents Shawn Horcoff, Jhonas Enroth, Patrick Eaves and Rich Peverley will all test free agency.
