Joseph Blandisi Scores Highlight Reel Goal

The former Colorado Avalanche draft pick Joseph Blandisi is at it again making headlines in the OHL. While he’s no longer leading Connor McDavid and the OHL in scoring, he’s doing just fine and let the world know with his impressive behind the back move to score the other night.

After receiving a beautiful pass from Brendan Lemieux landed right on his stick, Blandisi went to town, throwing the puck behind-his-back to get around the defenceman and going hard to the net to bury the puck. Perhaps the most impressive fact about this goal is the fact it was scored while shorthanded, what an incredible move by the overage forward.

Blandisi is currently skating with the Barrie Colts as an overage forward looking for an NHL team to pick him up following this season. He skated with both the Winnipeg Jets and Buffalo Sabres during the preseason but wasn’t able to find a home with either organization. However, with 21 points in 10 games, Blandisi is looking really good on the ice and should have no issues getting a team to pick-up the phone and call him. The overager has been on a tear since rejoining the Colts and is one of the most interesting OHL players to watch this season aside from Connor McDavid.

He became a free agent in June when the Avalanche let his contract expire and since then he’s been on a mission. He missed 20 games last season due to injury and has been dealt at the deadline twice in the last two seasons, now he’s looking for someone to give him a chance at the next level and get one step closer to the NHL. Some players are late bloomers. maybe that’s indeed what Joseph Blandisi is.
