Mitch Holmberg- Spokane Chiefs

Mitch Holmber has not yet been drafted or picked up by any NHL team, but after his very impressive last year of junior hockey with the Chiefs, there may be a few teams interested in him.

“I think it just took me a bit longer than some other guys. Some guys can adapt quicker; it took me a bit longer to get used to the league” ~ Mitch Holmberg

He led the WHL in scoring recording 62 goals and 118 points through 72 games with the Chiefs. If those numbers aren’t good enough to get you picked up by a team then I don’t know what will. He became the first WHL player to reach the 60 goal plateau since Layne Ulmer recorded 63 goals back in 2000-2001.

Following him impressive final year of junior hockey, the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL signed him to his first professional contract and he played one game for them to finish off the year. It’s a shame the Oilers didn’t sign him after his incredible season, but if he can do half as well with the Barons, he should have no issues making the NHL.
