NHL Draft: 5 Draftees That Could Step Into the NHL Next Season

I know I know, I’m crazy. Hear me out though okay? Yes Smith was a late pick (2nd round), but he was also born in 1995 which makes him older than most drafted in this years draft. What does that mean? He has more playing experience and is likely ready to take that next step in his career now. He just finished his 3rd OHL season compared to some draftees who have only completed their rookie years.

The Flames don’t want to rush their star kids, so giving a guy like Hunter Smith some playing time next season might not be a bad idea.
