Xavier Ouellet– Grand Rapids Griffins- AHL
It’s no secret that the Detroit Red Wings biggest need is on the blue line. After Nicklas Lidstrom took to the shelf, there has been a hole on their back end, a hole they are hoping Xavier Ouellet can fill. Ouellet laced up for 4 games with the Red Wings this season, however he spent the majority of the season in the AHL. In 70 games with the Griffins he recorded 17 points and showed a very solid two-way game.
He needs some more time in the AHL to mature and add to his 6 foot, 187 pound frame, however once he’s done that he should have no issue fitting in to an NHL blue line.
