Detroit Red Wings: Top 3 Prospects
Anthony Mantha- Val d’Or Foreurs- QMJHL
While Nathan MacKinnon was a beast this season for the Colorado Avalanche, Anthony Mantha may be the steal of the 2013 draft and the amazing scouting from the Red Wings found him. Mantha had a beast of a season in the QMJHL and as a result is one of 3 candidates for CHL player of the year.
He recorded 120 points in 57 games and didn’t stop when the playoffs came around, he’s posted 32 points in 21 post season games thus far. With Mantha leading the way, the Foreurs have a solid chance of reaching the Memorial Cup tournament and winning the QMJHL. Anthony Mantha is a pure goal scorer. He knows how to find the back of the net and uses his 6 foot 4 frame to help defend the puck.
In addition to his CHL player of the year nomination, he is also up for the top goal scorer of CHL. He’s already won the Jean Beliveau trophy for leading the QMJHL in scoring and was named the MVP of the QMJHL this season. Mantha could easily jump into the Red Wings roster next season and barely miss a step, he’s a true gem.
