Have you heard the name Kristers Gudlevskis before? If you have it’s probably from the 2014 Sochi Olympics where the no-name goaltender nearly upset team Canada. However, Gudlevskis isn’t such a no name and is currently playing for the Lightning’s AHL team in Syracuse. He split time between the AHL and ECHL this past season but has certainly made a name for himself in the past year. He had solid numbers in the ECHL posting a 1.83 Goals Against Average and .925 Save Percentage. In the AHL he had a respectable 3.00 Goals Against Average and .900 Save Percentage.

The Lightning aren’t too sure what they have with Kristers Gudlevskis between the pipes as of yet and with Ben Bishop occupying the crease for the foreseeable future, there isn’t much room to move up in their franchise. Gudlevskis will likely end up in the AHL next season and may earn some NHL time if injuries arise.
