The OHL’s Kitchener Rangers are undefeated at home so far this season, going 5-0 in as many games at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium, and hoping to continue that streak with a win tonight over Owen Sound at 7 p.m.

THE BASICS

• Kitchener Rangers: 9-5-1-1, 20 points; third in midwest division, fourth in western conference. Kitchener’s 44 goals-for are third least in the league, but the team’s 37 goals-against is the best in that statistic league-wide. The Rangers are 6-3-1-0 in their last ten games.

Owen Sound Attack: 12-2-0-2, 26 points; first in midwest division, first in western conference. The Attack are in first place overall in the OHL, edging out the Colts (top of the Eastern Conference) by one point. Only the London Knights have more goals-for among teams in the conference. The Attack are 8-1-0-1 in their last ten games.

LEADERS

• Kitchener: Right winger Tobias Rieder leads the team with six goals and 10 assists for 16 points in 16 games. Left wing Matt Puempel leads the team with 10 goals. Meanwhile, centers Justin Bailey and Curtis Meighan are plus-four.

• Owen Sound: Daniel Catenacci, a Buffalo Sabres prospect, leads the Attack with 24 points. He’s also tied for the lead in assists (13) with fellow center Gemel Smith, while center Cameron Brace leads the team with 13 goals. Defensemen Nathan Chiarlitti leads the team with a plus-21 rating.

WHAT ELSE YOU NEED TO KNOW…

• This is the second meeting between the Attack and the Rangers this season.

• The teams previously met on October 26, in a 3-2 Rangers shootout victory in Kitchener. Kyle Hope and Gemel Smith scored for the Attack, while Matt Puempel had both of the goals for Kitchener. Jordan Binnington (Owen Sound) had 33 saves, while Rangers goaltender John Gibson stopped 42 of 44 shots faced.

• After tonight, the teams will meet November 17, January 2 and March 1 in Owen Sound. The Attack will also visit Kitchener one more time, on February 1.

• Last season, the Attack and Rangers faced each other 11 times, including five playoff games in round one in which Kitchener defeated Owen Sound four games to one.
