Forty of the top American-born prospects eligible for the 2013 draft will converge in Buffalo today for the first inaugural USA Hockey/CCM All-American Prospects game.

Today’s game features players from across the country who have been playing at various levels, including the USHL and OHL. Teams will be coached by former NHLer Phil Housley and Miracle on Ice player Rob McClanahan.

Housley, 48, played for several teams during his pro career, including the Buffalo Sabres, before retiring in 2003. He was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004 and is the second-leading scorer among U.S. born players. Housley also won a silver medal with Team USA in the 2002 Olympics.

McClanahan, 54, may not have had as storied an NHL history as Housley, but his resume is impressive nonetheless. He played for the Sabres, Hartford Whalers and New York Rangers but is best known for being a part of the 1980 Olympic team. The tournament saw the team not only beat the “unstoppable” USSR team but also go on to win the gold medal.

The teams have been split as follows:

Team McClanahan: Cal Petersen, Evan Cowley, Gage Ausmus, Will Butcher, Trevor Hamilton, Seth Jones, Clint Lewis, Dakota Mermis, Justin Bailey, Taylor Cammarata, Cole Cassels, Austin Farley, Hudson Fasching, Ryan Fitzgerald, Luke Johnson, Matt Lane, Jimmy Lodge, Mike McCarron, Jacob Montgomery, Quentin Shore

Team Housley: Hunter Miska, Eamon McAdam, Cody Corbett, Mike Downing, Ian McCoshen, Steve Santini, Scott Savage, Keaton Thompson, Evan Allen, J.T. Compher, Ryan Hartman, Tyler Kelleher, Anthony Louis, Sean Malone, Will Merchant, Tyler Motte, Ross Olsson, Devin Tringale, Frank Vatrano

Tonight’s game begins at 7 p.m. and can be viewed online here.
