Prospect Profile: Jacob Trouba

Recent NHL draft pick Jacob Trouba, selected 9th overall by the Winnipeg Jets this year, is beginning his college hockey career with the University of Michigan and has a bright future ahead of him.
The 18-year-old Rochester, MI native spent last season with U.S. National Team Development program. In the USHL, he played 22 games, tallying four goals and 14 assists, while he also played 32 games with the U-18 team.
He added five goals and nine assists in his tenure with the U-18 team.
In 2012, Trouba represented Team USA in the IIHF World Junior Championships and was the youngest American player in the tournament. He previously won gold with the US at the 2011 IIHF World U18 championships.
The defenseman is now attending the University Of Michigan, as a sports management major. He’s one of seven freshmen on the team and is one of the younger new additions to the Wolverines squad.
Trouba and his new teammates open the season with an exhibition match Oct. 9 at the Yost Ice Arena against Windsor before starting the regular season play with a two-game stint against the Rochester Institute of Technology.
