Canada Defeats Russia

Team Canada is undefeated so far in this year’s 2012 Ivan Hlinka Tournament, at the top of Group B in the tournament standings and the best of all eight national teams involved.
The Canadian team has earned nine points in three games so far, despite not ranking top in goals for (14, second behind Sweden’s 20) or goals against (eight allowed, 3rd behind the Czech Republic and Russia).

Monday, they defeated Switzerland by a score of 4-1.  Meanwhile, Russia beat Team USA, Sweden wiped the board with Slovakia 7-3, and Finland edged the Czech Republic by a goal.

Tuesday, the perfect record continued as Canada beat Sweden 7-5. Russia, Switzerland and the Czech Republic also came out on top in their respective games against Finland, Slovakia and the USA.

Finally, Wednesday, Canada edged out Slovakia by a score of 3-2. Sweden, Finland and the Czech Republic also won.

There were no games scheduled for Thursday as the teams prepare for placement and medal games on Friday and Saturday.
