The Countdown: One Month!
The offseason is nearing an end – at least for fans of the Ontario Hockey League, as preseason action kicks off exactly one month from today, with three exhibition games to start us off.
The first day of action holds three games. The IceDogs and Otters will begin the season, with a 7 p.m. contest at a to-be-determined location. QMJHL squad Rouyn-Noranda will visit Kitchener in a cross-league game held in Waterloo at 7:30 p.m., and the Sting visit the Knights at 7:30 p.m. as well.
Exhibition games will run nearly daily through September 16, with several more QMJHL-OHL games as well as contests held in non-OHL cities.
Rouyn-Noranda will compete against the Otters in Goderich on September 1. Finally, the Ottawa 67s and Gatineau Olympiques will play a home-and-home series on September 7 and 8 in Smiths Falls and Rockland.
Communities including Ajax, Brockville, Elmira, Newmarket and Uxbridge will also host action during the preseason.
After the preseason finishes up, teams will have a brief delay before the regular season kicks off on September 20 – also featuring a Niagara/Erie matchup.
