Weekly Rankings

1. Ferris State (22-8-4) (16-6-4)

Ferris State has clinched at least a share of the CCHA title, a year after finishing .500 in the league.

2. Minnesota (21-11-1) (17-7-0)

Freshman Kyle Rau has maybe hit the wall a bit, scoring just 2 goals since combing back from World Juniors.

3. Minnesota-Duluth (20-7-5) (14-6-4)

It’s fair to ask questions of Duluth’s defense, but they have the 2nd, 6th and 14th leading scorers in the country.

4. Union (19-6-7) (13-3-4)

Union is two points up on Cornell in ECAC Hockey, and face the Big Red on Friday in their biggest game of the year to date.

5. Michigan (20-10-4) (18-8-4)

Michigan needs a sweep of Bowling Green, and a Western Michigan sweep of Ferris State, to clinch a share of the CCHA title.

6. Boston College (21-10-1) (15-7-1)

Hats off to Jerry York, who this past weekend joined Ron Mason as the only two members of the 900 wins club.

7. UMass-Lowell (20-9-0) (15-8-0)

Scott Wilson, with 12 goals and 24 points in conference play, is the only Freshman in the top 20 in points, and top 10 in goals, in the league. Hopefully his name is being etched onto the conference Freshman of the year trophy as we speak.

8. Denver (18-10-4) (13-7-4)

Freshman Joey LaLeggia is second in the league in points by a defenseman, and is just a goal and two points behind Justin Schultz in conference play. Even crazier is that LaLeggia was passed over entirely in the 2011 NHL Draft.

9. Cornell (14-6-7) (11-3-6)

Cornell has clinched the Ivy League title, and the Big Red have earned at least a point in 15 of their last 17 games.

10. Boston U (18-11-1) (14-8-1)

It’s unfortunate we have to talk about things such as “how does BU respond when two of their players have been charged with rape?” but alas we do. They look to be a lock for the NCAA tournament, but because of both who they lost and the circumstances surrounding it how they’ll do in the national tournament is anyone’s guess.

11. North Dakota (17-11-3) (13-10-1)

12. Miami (19-13-2) (13-11-2)

13. Maine (18-10-3) (13-9-2)

14. Colorado College (16-12-2) (13-10-1)

15. Merrimack (15-9-6) (11-8-4)

16. Michigan State (18-12-4) (13-10-3)

Maybe Next Week: Ohio State, Colgate

Teams by conference: WCHA 5, Hockey East 5, CCHA 4, ECAC Hockey 2
