BU’s Max Nicastro Arrested

BU Junior Max Nicastro has been arrested and charged with sexual assault. He was arrested early this morning by BU police, and the campus police department are working with the Suffolk County DA’s office on the investigation. Nicastro is being held on a $25,000 cash bail, and has obviously been suspended from the hockey team.

This is the second incident involving a BU player this year. Earlier in the year then leading scorer Corey Trivino was arrested on a similar charge, and this is obviously not the way BU wants to be portrayed, nor the way hockey players – or anyone – should be acting. Hopefully other teams are able to use this as a teaching tool to teach their players how to respect young women so that maybe something good can come of this incident.

In less important news, this obviously impacts BU on the ice as well. Nicastro, a 3rd round pick of the Red Wings, is one of the Terriers’ better defensemen, and combined with the suspension of Trivino and Charlie Coyle’s defection to the QMJHL BU might be letting a golden opportunity slip though their fingers. The Terriers currently sit in 3rd in Hockey East and 6th in the PairWise.
