Seth Jones Out For WJC

Seth Jones suffered an upper body injury in the US loss to Russia in an exhibition tuneup last night, and today it was revealed the injury will keep him out of the WJC. Jones likely would have made the final roster, so this is disappointing both for him and for USA Hockey. As the youngest player in camp he has two more chances to make the final roster.

With Jones out, NTDPer Jacob Trouba looks to be next in line for his spot, with St. Cloud State Sophomore Kevin Gravel having an outside shot. The US looked to be pretty deep at defense this summer, but with Jones out and Justin Faulk in the NHL there are some major questions to ask. It might be time to drop off a duffel bag full of money in Raleigh.

I’ll have my final roster predictions for the US’s roster up tonight.
