Bowling Green Says Yes To The WCHA

This isn’t too newsworthy, given that BGSU really had no place else to go, but the school announced today that they will be joining the WCHA for the 2013-14 season.

BGSU, despite having won a national championship, has fallen on some hard times lately, and seem good bets to finish in the basement of the CCHA this year. They also considered shutting down their program as recently as two years ago, so while there were people claiming the NCHC should invite them, I didn’t really see what they brought to the table, other than a short trip for Miami.

Nevertheless, BGSU will face some travel problems in the new look WCHA, with two Alaska teams and two Minnesota teams in the conference, but something tells me Bruce McLeod will figure that out, seeing the wonderful job he has done with the rest of the issues he’s faced as the commissioner of the WCHA.
