One firing and one possible hiring to talk about today. First on the firing front, Clarkson has fired head coach George Roll as well as assistant Greg Drechsel. Clarkson was a #1 seed in 2007, won the league in 2008, but finished tied for 9th, last and 7th the past three years.

On the hiring front, Penn State is trying to seduce Duluth coach Scott Sandelin to try to lead the program through the transition to D1 hockey. Maybe I am alone on this, but I am pretty underwhelmed by this potential hire. Yes he just won a national title, but he still has an under .500 record and since taking over Duluth in 2000-01 he only has 2 seasons over .500. With the money Penn State has at its disposal, they should be hiring a good coach rather than getting caught up in recency bias.
