North Dakota Injury Updates

Over this past week, North Dakota has suffered the loss of its captain, Chay Genoway, to an injury, as well as to Sophomore forward Danny Kristo, who has severe frostbite on his foot. While there is no official update on what caused the frostbite (and I don’t want to lend any credence to the myriad of rumors out there), Regions Hospital in St. Paul released an update in which they stated that Kristo maintains the use of his foot and he says he is in the early stages of recovery, but is getting better each day. He will spend time at his home in Eden Prairie before returning to UND.

As for Genoway, Brad Scholssman reports that he will miss next weekend’s Alaska-Anchorage series, the series the weekend following vs. St. Cloud and probably the following weekend’s series vs. Bemidji State before possibly returning to action. The official word is that he will be out 3-5 weeks, but because the Sioux’s remaining schedule is fairly easy (or as easy as it can be in the WCHA) and the Sioux are securely in the NCAA tournament, I would assume that he will probably not return until the first round of the WCHA playoffs
