Wrenn Leaves Denver for WHL

There’s some international hockey game tonight between two neighboring countries, or so I’ve heard, but the college hockey story of the day, I guess, is Denver defenseman William Wrenn leaving school for the WHL. The 2009 2nd round pick of the San Jose Sharks had a team worst -7 (though +/- isn’t really the best stat) and only had one assist in the first half of the season.

Based on the quotes at Denver’s official site, Wrenn was unhappy with his ice time, as he was on their third pair for much of the year, and more or less wanted a fresh start. The 20 year old will probably see his numbers spike in the WHL much like former Gopher Sam Lofquist when he left Minnesota for Guelph of the OHL.
