Lighting The Lamp: Debuts

Nebraska-Omaha 5, Minnesota 4: The Mavericks debut in the WCHA was a good one, as they built a lead, then let the Gophers come back, then won it late with an Alex Hudson goal. Hudson also scored earlier in the game. Jay Barribal had yet another goal for Minnesota

North Dakota 5, Bemidji State 2: The Beavers also made their WCHA debut, and the debut of their new arena, but it didn’t go quite as well. Matt Frattin had a hat trick for the Sioux and Jason Gregoire had 2 goals. The Sioux defense allowed just 14 shots on goal.

Notre Dame 4, Lake Superior State 2: Anders Lee, whom I profiled yesterday, scored for the Irish, as well as having an assist. Ben Ryan had the game winner for Notre Dame in the 2nd period. Mike Johnson had 26 saves.

Miami 6, St. Cloud State 3: Carter Camper had two goals for the RedHawks, and Cody Reichard made 21 saves. Mike Lee had a rough night for the Huskies, allowing all 6 Miami goals.

Michigan State 3, Maine 2: Gustav Nyquist had 2 assists for Maine, but it wasn’t enough as Dustin Gazley’s goal at 14:53 of the 3rd period gave Michigan State a nice win over a top 10 team. Drew Palmisano held one of the best offenses in the country in check, making 28 saves, and held Maine to just 2/10 on the power play.
