A lot to get to from last night’s games, as the season got underway in earnest last night. We start with a historic game….

Michigan 4, Bowling Green 1: Bowling Green scored first, but Michigan scored the next 4 goals to win their CCHA opener. The win gave Red Berenson his 700th career victory.

Miami 6, New Hampshire 3: It’s not too often that Cody Reichard is going to give up 3 goals on only 23 shots, but Miami’s offense made it so it didn’t matter. Carter Camper had his first two goals of the season, including the game winner.

Minnesota 5, UMass 3: Captain Jay Barribal and assistant captain Mike Hoeffel each had a goal and an assist for the Gophers, though less than 9500 people were there to see it.

Nebraska-Omaha 8, Clarkson 0: The competition wasn’t the highest, but Dean Blais’s uptempo offense is up and rolling. Matt Ambroz had 2 goals, and highly touted Freshman Matt White had the first points of his college career with 2 goals and an assist.

St. Cloud 3, RIT 1: Pittsburgh draftee Ben Hanowski scored the game winning goal 10:21 into the 2nd period, and Travis Novak clinched it with an empty netter to give St. Cloud a win at the Maverick Hockey Classic. Mike Lee had 26 saves for the Huskies.

Alabama Huntsville 4, Ferris State 2: Just over 1000 saw the Chargers win their opener as Mac Roy had two goals. Clarke Saunders made 30 saves in the win.
