USA Today Preseason Poll Released

Boston College got 28 of the 34 first place votes, while 2nd place North Dakota got 4 and Miami got the remaining 2 in the USA Today preseason poll. The WCHA led the way with 6 teams in the top 15.

I have a couple complaints with the poll, starting at the bottom with Minnesota. Last year it was understandable, as the Gophers still had a lot of talent, but after losing their two most talented players as well as some good depth players, I don’t see how the Gophers can be anything but downright bad this year. Denver being ranked is also a headscratcher to me. The Pioneers have some good recruits, but they lost nearly everybody important off last year’s team, most notably Marc Cheverie and Patrick Wiercioch.
