Three Collegians Invited To Hockey Canada’s Development Camp

Minnesota-Duluth’s Dylan Olsen, Harvard’s Louis LeBlanc and Notre Dame’s Riley Sheahan were all invited to Canada’s Development Camp for the 2011 World Juniors, which will be held in Buffalo, NY.
Last year’s team had no collegians but this year I think both Olsen and Sheahan have good shots, with LeBlanc having a chance as well. Olsen had a pretty good year with Duluth last year, and the Canadians, while having probably 4 slots locked up, are pretty thin at defense.
As for the forwards, assuming Taylor Hall and Tyler Seguin are in the NHL, it’s not the most impressive crew. Canada will need a responsible two way guy on the roster, which is Sheahan’s game to a T. I like LeBlanc’s game but some Canadians “in the know” so to speak said he wasn’t very impressive at the camp last year.
Also of note: depending on which NHL team drafts him, Sheahan could be in the OHL next year and now that his rights have been traded to Montreal LeBlanc could be in the QMJHL, leaving just one collegian on the potential roster.
