College Hockey Departures

A trio of WCHA players will become a trio of former WCHA players next fall:

Minnesota-Duluth goalie Brady Hjelle will be playing in the WHL next year. Hjelle had a pretty rough year, posting a 2.84 GAA and an .898 save percentage.

North Dakota defenseman Corey Feinhage will be playing for Kamloops of the WHL. I thought Feinhage would be a good college defenseman but he just never really put it together, and probably should have spent a year in the USHL before going to North Dakota. With all the blue-line talent in Grand Forks next year, Feinhage won’t exactly be missed.

The big loss though is Minnesota State’s Tyler Pitlick will be playing for Medicine Hat of the WHL. Pitlick was tied for 3rd on the team with 11 goals and will probably be a 1st round pick in this month’s NHL draft.

In other possible defections, it’s been rumored that Notre Dame’s Riley Sheehan might play in the OHL next year, depending on which NHL team drafts him.
