Windsor Wins Memorial Cup

The Windsor Spitfires, champions of the OHL, defeated the Brandon Wheat Kings, 2010 Memorial Cup hosts, to win their 2nd straight Memorial Cup. Possible #1 overall pick Taylor Hall was named Cup MVP for the 2nd straight year.

It was never really in doubt as the veteran spits had 4 second period goals and then pulled away to win 9-1. It was the 2nd most goals scored in a final, after Regina’s 11 in 1980.

Devils prospect Travis Hamonic had 2 goals and an assist in the championship game. Windsor will be losing a lot of contributors, including Hall, but will still retain Cam Fowler (probably) and will be getting goalie Jack Campbell. It’s entirely possible current or future Spitfiers could be the #1 overall pick (Hall), top defenseman taken (Fowler) and top goalie taken (Campbell)
