The Bismarck Bobcats were crowned champions of the North American Hockey League tonight by defeating Fairbanks 3-0 in the championship game of the Robertson Cup.

The Robertson Cup is set up as a round robin which pits the champions of the Central, South and North, as well as the host team (Wentachee) and Fairbanks, who earned their spot by winning their Western semifinal (they were pitted against Wentachee). The teams with the best two records then meet for the championship.

Bismarck got a goal in each period, as Casey Kleisinger (Edwards, CO) opened the scoring. Jason Fabian (Roseau, MN) got a shorthanded tally in the second, and Sean McKenzie (Howell, MI) added an empty-netter. Dartmouth commit Ryan Faragher stopped all 21 shots he faced.

It was the first NAHL title for the club located in the capital city of North Dakota. The St. Louis Bandits had won the last three Robertson Cups.
