Player of the year – Mark Olver, Northern Michigan

Although Zac Dalpe of Ohio State had more goals overall, and Corey Tropp had a fine year, Olver was the best player in conference play, and had equal goals to Dalpe and one more point than the OSU Soph in one less game played.

Freshman of the year – Andy Taranto, Alaska

Taranto went from the Fargo Force of the USHL to tied for 8th in the CCHA in points per game. His 18 goals led all CCHA rookies, and was 5 more than the next closest rookie.

Coach of the year – Dallas Ferguson, Alaska

Simple: any time you lead your school to its first ever NCAA tournament berth, you’re worthy of the coach of the year award in my books.
