ECAC Hockey Awards

ECAC Hockey again sent two teams to the NCAA tournament this year, and league champion Yale pulled off an upset of 2nd seeded North Dakota in the first round, and was some average goaltending away from advancing to the Frozen Four. Cornell suffered a disappointing loss to UNH in the 1st round, but top to bottom ECAC hockey had a very good year, with Union on the verge of an NCAA berth and Quinnipiac playing some very good hockey, especially early in the season.
Player of the year – Broc Little, Yale
Little led the country in goals per game (.79) and was 2nd in total goals (27). He had 20 goals in ECAC play.
Coach of the year – Nate Leaman, Union
Leaman guided a team that was just 9-11-2 in conference last year to a 21-12-6 (12-6-4) record and a 3rd place finish.
Freshman of the year – Jerry D’Amigo, RPI
Louis LeBlanc of Harvard had the most pre-season pub, but D’Amigo had just under a point per game, and scored 10 goals for the Engineers, as well as scoring some key goals as the United States won the World Junior Championships.
