Last year Atlantic Hockey champion Air Force upset 1 seed Michigan in the first round and were an overtime period away from advancing to the Frozen Four. This year, RIT built on the foundation laid by their league-mates and upset Denver in the first round before dominating UNH to make it to the Frozen Four in Detroit. Whether or not RIT takes home the title, these past two years have been a huge credibility boost for Atlantic Hockey, whose top half has been legitimized over the past couple years. With the additions of Niagara and Robert Morris next year, the future is bright for the conference.

Player 0f the year – Nick Johnson, Sacred Heart

Johnson was a center last year, but making the move to the wing worked out well for the Senior. He had only 9 games all  year where he failed to register a point. His 27 goals are tied for the 3rd most in Atlantic Hockey history. His 27 goals were also tied for 2nd nationally, and he was 4th in points per game.

Last year Sacred Heart went 11-23-4. This year? 21-13-4 and they finished 2nd in Atlantic Hockey
