Power Rankings Are Back!

It’s been awhile, eh? Before you get started reading this, you can take a peek at Fansided’s best posts of 2009. Although none of mine made it, so yeah, just skip it. The power rankings are much more fun to read.

1. Miami (13-2-5) (10-1-3) No Change

Miami didn’t play over the holidays, but I’m not going to punish kids for getting to spend Christmas with their families.

2. Denver (13-5-2) (9-3-2) No Change

So Rhett Rakhshani is good. The Senior had 2 goals in each of the Denver Cup games and was a +5 for the weekend.

3. Yale (8-3-3) (4-1-2) Up 1

The Bulldogs “lost” in the final of the Badger Showdown, but really it was just a shootout, so it was a tie.

4. Wisconsin (12-5-3) (8-3-3) Up 3

Congrats to the Badgers for winning the final Badger Showdown

5. North Dakota (10-6-4) (6-6-2) Up 3

The Sioux beat Niagara, then tied Notre Dame in the final of the Shillelagh Tournament, though they lost the shootout.

6. Colorado College (12-5-3) (8-3-3) Down 1

CC made the title game of the Florida College Classic, but blew a 2-1 3rd period lead to lose the title game.

7. Cornell (8-4-2) (6-2-1) Down 4

The Big Red lost back to back games for the first time all year in the Florida College Classic, but rebounded with a nice win over UNH.

8. Michigan State (14-6-2) (9-3-2) Up 1

The Spartans won the GLI championship with a 10-1 win over Tech and a 6-1 win over RPI.

9. Boston College (10-5-2) (7-3-2) Down 3

The Eagles went 0-2 at the Denver Cup, including a rough 5-2 loss to St. Lawrence

10. Quninnipiac (13-4-1) (7-3-0) N0 Change

A big week ahead for the Q as they play Princeton, RPI and Union.

11. Bemidji State (14-4-2) (8-0-0) Up 2

The Beavers beat and tied Western Michigan this past weekend, but didn’t allow a goal in either game.

12. UMass-Lowell (11-7-1) (5-4-1) Down 1

Lowell defeated Holy Cross and lost to Northeastern recently. They get a rematch with NE this weekend.

13. Ferris State (14-4-2) (8-2-2) Up 1

14. Minnesota Duluth (12-7-1) (8-5-1)Up 1

15. Alaska (9-5-4) (6-5-3) Up 1

16. UMass (11-7-0) (6-5-0) Down 4
