The US tryout camp roster for the upcoming World Junior Championships has been announced. 29 players will tryout for 22 spots, and the camp will be held December 17-18 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The collegians on the roster are:

G- Mike Lee, St. Cloud State

D- Matt Donovan, Denver

D- Jake Gardiner, Wisconsin

D- Max Nicastro, Boston U

D- John Ramage, Wisconsin

D- David Warsofsky, Boston U

F- Chris Brown, Michigan

F- Jerry D’Amigo, RPI

F- Chris Kreider, Boston College

F- Danny Kristo, North Dakota

F- Kyle Palmieri, Notre Dame

F- Vinny Saponari, Boston U

F- Jordan Schroeder, Minnesota

F- Derek Stepan, Wisconsin

F- David Wohlberg, Michigan

I’m semi surprised that Miami’s Connor Knapp didn’t get invited, but Lee has played well for the Huskies and the other goalie, USNDTP’s Jack Campbell, should be the goalie for the next couple WJCs so it’s no surprise that he’s on the roster. John Carlson, who is playing for the Hershey Bears of the AHL, won’t be at the tryout camp, although he will obviously be on the team as the lone professional.

I expect all of the college defensemen except one of the two Badgers to make it. Forward wise I don’t see a collegian that couldn’t play on the team, but three need to be cut, so we’ll have to wait and see.
