Lighting The Lamp: Goals Galore

Cornell 6, Brown 0: I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure a 6-0 win is a good way to bounce back from a Friday night loss. Ben Scrivens had 28 saves to record the shutout, and Blake Gallagher had 2 goals for the Big Red.

Minnesota 4, Bemidji State 1: I was anxious to see how Minnesota would respond to the turmoil they went through this week with Sam Lofquist leaving for the OHL and the Jordan Schroeder rumors, and I was also anxious to see how the Beavers would do playing against some real competition for the first time this year. One test passed, one failed. Jordan George gave Bemidji the lead just over 3 mins into the game, but less than 1:30 later Nico Sacchetti tied the score, and goals from Mike Hoeffel, Schroeder and Mike Carman sealed the deal.

St. Cloud State 3, North Dakota 2: I was lucky enough to be in attendance for this game, and it was shocking to see the Sioux outworked to much by St. Cloud. I have heard some rumblings of Sioux fans not being happy with the refereeing, but there was really only one call that was poor (on North Dakota’s disallowed goal), but other than that it was fine. Aaron Dell had a rough night in net, giving up 3 goals on 4 shots. Dan Dunn made 47 saves for the Huskies.

Boston College 7, Vermont 1: Steven Whitney had two goals and an assist for BC, while Joe Whitney had a goal and an assist. But the leading point getter was Jimmy Hayes, who assisted on 4 of BC’s goals. John Muse had 3 saved in the win.

Wisconsin 6, Alaska-Anchorage 2: Josh Lunden had both Seawolf goals, but Ben Street had two of his own for UW, and Patrick Johnson got the GWG 2:32 into the 3rd period.
