Lofquist Leaves Minnesota

It keeps getting worse for the Gophers. Last week we reported that Jay Barribal was lost for the season with a knee injury, and now word comes that Sophomore defenseman Sam Lofquist is leaving Minnesota to play in the OHL. The Wisconsin native, who played at Shattuck and with the NTDP, had only played in 3 games for the unranked Gophers this year, putting up 0 points. After last year, Lofquist was probably going to contend for a spot on the US World Junior Team, but it’s tough to see how he does so now.

More on where he will play as word comes in.
