Minnesota Golden Gopher co-captain Tony Lucia put up a 3-2–5 line as the Gophers had their first two victories of the season in a sweep over Alaska-Anchorage. Lucia also had the game winning goal on Friday night. His game winner, along with the goal he scored just 3 minutes into the 3rd period, was short handed.

With the injury to Jay Barribal, Lucia is going to have more weekends like this one in order for the Gophers to make the NCAA tournament after missing out last year. Lucia leads the Gophers with .83 points per game, although he is just tied for 23rd in the WCHA in that category. He is tied for 12th in goals per game, however.

Lucia’s Gophers take on Wisconsin this weekend in one of the best rivalries in the country.
