Lighting The Lamp: Gophers Off The Mat

Minnesota 5, Alaska-Anchorage 1: The Gophers had scored three goals in their first four games. They erupted for 5 tonight including a pair of shorthanded goals, both by co-captain Tony Lucia. Zach Budish got his first career goal in the win as well.

BU 5, Lowell 4 (OT): For an idea of how crazy this game was, check out INCH writer Jeff Howe’s twitter feed. It seems whenever these two get together, wildness ensues. David Warsofsky had two goals for the Terriers, and Kieran Millan made 32 saves.

Harvard 5, Dartmouth 3: Louis LeBlanc had his first career collegiate goal as Harvard won their first league road game in seemingly forever. Alex Killorn had two goals and an assist, and Kyle Richter made 41 saves for Harvard.

Cornell 3, Niagara 2 (OT): Ben Scrivens made 28 saves in his season debut, while Collin Greening had a goal and an assist and Riley Nash had two assists for the Big Red.

Wisconsin 4, New Hampshire 1: UNH’s offense was non-existent in this one, as Badger goalie Brett Bennett needed to make only 12 saves in the win. Peter LeBlanc had the lone Wildcat goal, one of the short handed unassisted variety.

Denver 4, Minnesota State 3: Talking about how Marc Cheverie broke Peter Mannino’s school record for consecutive minutes without giving up a goal would be a classic case of burying the lede. Why? Because Cheverie was hurt in the game when a Maverick’s skate slashed through his leg. Reportedly people were able to see his muscle, although the blade missed any major veins and arteries, thank God.
