TCHB Power Rankings: Movement

facebooktwitterreddit

The top team stayed the same in this week’s edition of the power rankings, but after that teams were moving all over the place. The WCHA and Hockey East were big winners this week.

1. Miami (3-0-1) No Change

The RedHawks had a rough one on Saturday. Is Cody Reichard going to take the reins in net?

2. North Dakota (3-0-1) (1-0-1) Up 3

Chay Genoway Hobey Watch: Through 4 games, Genoway has 3 goals and 3 assists. Through 4 last year, Matt Gilroy had 1 goal and 1 assist.

3. Denver (2-2-0) Down 1

I dont know what to make of this Pioneer team. Perhaps inconsistency got shifted from one Colorado team to the other this year.

4. Cornell (0-0-0) No Change

Since the Big Red haven’t played yet, I figured I’d let you know that the Big Red football team lost to Fordham on Saturday.

5. Vermont (2-1-0) (1-0-0) Up 5

Vermont just keeps replacing cogs in their lineup. First Joe Fallon, now Viktor Stalberg and Peter Lenes. Maybe Stalberg’s old team could beat his new team.

6. Boston U (0-1-0) (0-1-0) Down 3

Courtesy of INCH: The loss to UMass was Kieran Millan’s first road loss of his career.

7. Princeton (0-0-0) Down 1

Speaking of Ivy League football: Best helmet in the country

8. Michigan (1-1-0)

The Wolverines were off last week. Better football team than Princeton, not as good helmet wise.

9. Notre Dame (2-2-0)

Freshman Mike Johnson had a shutout in his first career start on Saturday vs. Providence.

10. Nebraska-Omaha (3-0-1)

Maybe that Blais guy does make a difference.

11. Yale (0-0-0)

Yale beat Lehigh 7-0 in football on Saturday. I wonder if their hockey team will get to that mark.

12. Minnesota (0-1-1) (0-1-1) Down 4

Alex Kangas was the only thing keeping it from being 8-0 on Friday. Kent Patterson was the only thing keeping Minnesota from an extra point on Saturday.

13. Alaska (3-0-1)

With the Nanooks’ first conference games coming vs. Ferris State in two weeks, they could be undefeated for awhile.

14. St. Cloud State (1-2-1) Up 2

If Mike Lee keeps stopping shots at this rate, St. Cloud is going to win a ton of games

15. Boston College (0-1-0) (0-1-0) Down 4

Perhaps Eagles fans can take solace in Matt Ryan’s big win last night.

16. UMass (2-0-0) (1-0-0) NR

Handing a goalie his first career road loss is good enough for me

Dropped out: Wisconsin

Maybe next week: Bemidji State, Colorado College

Teams by Conference:  CCHA 5, Hockey East 4, WCHA 4, ECAC Hockey 3
