Colorado College 1, Wisconsin 1: CC might be the early favorite for surprise team in the WCHA. Joe Howe had 26 saves for the Tigers and Nate Prosser got a PPG less than 7 minutes into the game to secure a three point weekend for Colorado College
North Dakota 3, Minnesota 3: The Sioux also secured a three point weekend. Kent Patterson got the start for the Gophers, but I gotta think Minnesota wins if they start Kangas in this one. Chay Genoway had another goal for the Sioux, his 3rd on the year. There were a couple skirmishes in this one, although not as bad as we’ve seen in years past.
St. Lawrence 4, Niagara 3: Niagara jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but 4 unanswered by St. Lawrence, including 2 in the final 3 minutes, gave them the victory. Kyle Flanagin scored the first and the last goals for the Saints, and assisted on the middle two.
Miami 5, UNH 5: Quite the barnburner in Durham. The Wildcats got two goals and an assist from Blake Kessel, who no doubt is showing his brother how it’s done, and three assists from Peter LeBlanc. If someone can tell me what happened with Miami’s goaltending situation, I’d be much oblidged.
Clarkson 5, RIT 3: Paul Karpowich had 42 saves for Clarkson as they held off a pesky RIT club who got two goals from Cameron Burt. Matt Beca had two for Clarkson.
Maine 5, Michigan State 3: Corey Tropp continues to have a good season for the Spartans with a goal and two assists tonight. But it was not enough as Gustav Nyquist netted the game winning PPG with just under 2 minutes to go. Scott Darling had 24 saves in the win for the Black Bears.
Merrimack 6, Army 3: Stephane Da Costa had a five goal night, including a natural hat trick, for the Warriors. Francois Ouimet, fresh off a golf outing, had a goal for Merrimack as well.
