Lighting The Lamp: I Don’t Have A Good Tagline

We’re just one game into the season and I’m already out of taglines. It might be a long one, folks. That doesn’t mean that we were shortchanged of action though. No sir. We saw Notre Dame bounce back, and there could be a new number one team in all the land when I release my new poll this week.

Vermont 6, Denver 4: Marc Cheverie got the night off, and Adam Murray responded by giving up 6 goals on 30 shots. Brayden Irwin had 2 goals and an assist for the Catamounts, while Johnathan Higgins got the GWG.

North Dakota 3, Merrimack 2: If Brett Hextall is going to score goals, this North Dakota team is going to be tough as hell to beat. Michael Cichy got his first goal in a UND uniform as well. Still, it wasn’t worry free, as Brad Eidsness gave up his 2nd soft goal in as many nights.

Nebraska-Omaha 4, UMass-Lowell 3: Omaha won the Icebreaker behind goals from 4 different Mavs. Rich Purslow was the only one with two points in the game. The last team to win the Icebreaker went on to win the national title. Just sayin.

Notre Dame 3, Alabama-Huntsville 1: Kyle Palmieri got his 2nd goal in as many games, and Ian Cole had his first point of the year for the Fighting Irish, who got 13 saves from Tom O’Brien to get the win.

Michigan State 4, Clarkson 3: Bobby Jarosz had 11 saves in each period, which were just enough to hold off Clarkson as Chris Forfar pitched in the GWG with under 3 minutes left in the game. Corey Tropp had two assists in the game. Nice to see he got let back on the team. No sarcasm there at all.
