Lighting The Lamp: High School Extra Edition

Good Saturday morning everyone. Last night I took in the semifinal round at the North Dakota high school state hockey tournament. In the first semi, Bismarck High School defeated Grand Forks Central 4-1 to advance to their first championship game since 1992. The Demons have just one loss on the season, which came earlier this year up in Williston. In the late semi, Grand Forks Red River defeated Fargo South for the third year in a row in the state tournament to advance to their third straight title game. It should be a good one, especially since no one brings the atmosphere quite like Red River fans.

Anyways, you come here for the college hockey, so let’s get to that after the jump:

RIT 6, Air Force 4: The Tigers clinched a share of Atlantic Hockey last night, as they punched in the eventual game winner with just 3.5 seconds left in the 2nd period. RIT had three goals on special teams, and the Falcons had 2. North Dakotan Paul Weisgarber had a goal and Jacques Lamoureux had 2. Gotta keep the ND theme going.

Yale 4, Cornell 2: The Bulldogs win the marquee game of the night as Brian O’Neill had 2 goals and Alec Richards made 29 saves to widen Yale’s lead atop ECAC Hockey

Minnesota State 4, Wisconsin 3: Jared Stewart had the OT game winner for the Mavericks, and Mike Zacharias was fantastic in net with 32 saves. Brendan Smith was the star of the game for Wisconsin, with a goal and two assists.
