Tyson Strachan Signs With the Buffalo Sabres
In the midst of their rebuild, the Buffalo Sabres have added yet another piece to their confusing puzzle on the third day of free agency. Today the Buffalo Sabres signed defencmean Tyson Strachan who spent last season with the Washington Capitals and Hershey Bears. The Sabres and Strachan agreed on a one-year and is expected join the Rochester Americans in the AHL at the start of next season.
This move provides the Buffalo Sabres with added depth on defence in case of injury and also helps lock down the Amerks blue line which took a major his last season. The 29 year- old had just 2 assists in 18 games with the Capitals last season, while tallying 19 points in 60 games with the Bears in the AHL. Tyson Strachan has spend the majority of his 8 year career in the minors after being drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2003. He has one goal, 15 points and 155 penalty minutes in 138 NHL games split between the Panthers, St. Louis Blues and Washington Capitals.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound defenceman will join a very talented blue line already in Buffalo with the likes of Rasmus Ristolainen, Mark Pysyk and Nikita Zadorov.
