Aaron Ekblad

Although Ekblad will likely be in the NHL next season, he may take a few years before making an impact at the top level. He has all of the tools necessary as a 6’3″, 213lbs defenseman who plays well in every facet of the game. He was named the OHL’s most outstanding defenseman and racked up 53 points (23G, 30A) in 58 games this season.

The Oilers need help on the blue-line now. If drafted by the Oilers, Ekblad would immediately become their best defense prospect and one of the best defensemen on their team. If they were to stay patient with his development, a future pairing of Nurse-Ekblad would be terrifying for opposing forwards. If Ekblad is available at number three, I see no way the Oilers pass him up.
