At the trade deadline the Sabres were busy offloading a few of their veterans in exchange for young kids and future draft picks. One of their best pick-ups from the deadline was NCAA standout Hudson Fasching who came over in a deal with the Los Angeles Kings. Simply put the kid is a beast on the ice. He’s a power forward type of player with a knack for scoring and sound skating.

He just finished up a solid freshman year with Minnesota which saw him earn the rookie of the year award for the Gophers and a trip to the NCAA Frozen Four championship. His strong play also earned him some playing time at the World Junior Championships where he recorded 4 points in 5 games. This season with the Gophers, Fasching recorded 30 points in 40 games en route to leading his team into the Frozen Four Championship game.

He’ll be at the University of Minnesota for the next few seasons, however if they turn out as good as this year Hudson Fasching will have issues finding a spot on the Sabres.
