South Bend, IN – The Fighting Irish hockey team had an easy way to keep the first game going by just holding onto the puck in the late stages of Friday night’s game against Alaska-Fairbanks. They were unsuccessful in the attempt as UAF’s Jarret Granberg took the puck down the ice and scored with 3 seconds left in the game.

The fifth-ranked Irish (15-9-0, 11-5-0-0 CCHA) opened the scoring in the first game on Anders Lee’s 13th goal of the year. UAF (10-8-4, 8-7-3-1 CCHA) scored the next three. Austin Wuthrich netted his second of the year at the 17:42 mark in the second frame. T.J. Tynan’s ninth of the year evened the score at 3 midway through the final frame. Granberg scored a power play goal a minute later to give UAF the lead back. Mario Lucia notched the equalizer with just over four minutes left for his sixth of the year.
